After celebrating sixty years in international education as a non-profit organization, CIEE remains highly committed to our mission: "to help people gain understanding, acquire knowledge and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world."
CIEE's USA High School Program is designated by the U. S. Department of State to sponsor our students on a J-1 visa. We are also accredited by the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET). In addition, we have been chosen by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag to represent a highly selective grant program for students from the United States and Germany. We also represent students who have been selected to participate in the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) grant program who come to us from the Newly Interdependent States that once formed the Soviet Union. Two years ago we were invited to add the "Youth Exchange and Study" (YES) program that provides scholarships for high school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend an academic year in the U.S. Last year we also added the A-SMYLE program with students from Serbia-Montenegro through the Future Leaders Exchange.
Student exchange programs have proven to be one of the best diplomatic tools in building bridges and continue to grow as a result of this.
Host families play an in valuable part in introducing the heart of America to students from around the world, uniting our future leaders, and strengthening mutual understanding that will affect attitudes over a lifetime.
We have moved into this next century, with lofty, but achievable, goals. We are proud of our past and excited about our future... and our ability to contribute to the world in which we live. CIEE moves forward with the same spirit of commitment that has already made us a worldwide leader in international education and exchange.
Wishing you a wonderful year,
