This spring, 23 male staff members, based both in our Portland office as well our international offices, grew mustaches over a six week period to raise money for Boys to Men, a local Portland non-profit organization that provides non-violence education and programming for boys in the state of Maine.
The StacheBash was held at CIEE on April 23rd to celebrate our staff members' achievement in raising funds among fellow CIEE staff. Families and friends also became involved in donating, resulting in a donation of over $2,500 for Boys to Men. The organization's Executive Director of the board, Layne Gregory, attended the event to accept the donation on behalf of the organization and to speak more about the programming Boys to Men provides.
Not only did the event serve a good cause, it also brought a lot of laughter to CIEE staff as staff 'stachers became involved with friendly competition and a very creative display of 'staches. Winners of the StacheBash were Frank Hall, for 'Most Money Raised', and Marshall Johnson for 'Best 'Stache'.
