CIEE and the WEST (Work, English Study, and Travel) Program
The WEST (Work, English Study, and Travel) program is a unique exchange program that provides an opportunity for some of the brightest university students and recent graduates from the Republic of Korea to enter the United States for a period of 18 months – including an internship of up to 12 months.
Students have been screened by their universities and the Korean Global Internship Support Center (an office of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade) before they were accepted into the WEST program. Upon their arrival in the United States, program participants devote themselves to advanced English language training and coursework focusing on American business practices, U.S. corporate culture, and general office management before being placed in a professional internship.
WEST interns will bring a competitive international advantage and a fresh perspective to the businesses that host them. Both the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the United States fully support this program. Businesses that become involved are sure to benefit from the goodwill that the program will generate.
The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs has designated CIEE (an educational exchange company) as a sponsor of the WEST program. If your organization would like learn more about WEST, please contact Deena Robinson at CIEE.
