Youth Ambassadors

What does it mean to be a youth ambassador? Many students will answer this question slightly differently. Some possible answers are:

Knowing about your country so that you can answer questions Americans ask
Challenging your views and being open to others
Learning about life in the U.S.
Sharing your recipes and holiday traditions
Showing what it means to be a young person from your country
Being “quick to observe, but slow to judge”

Whatever your definition, being a Grants student is a privilege that comes with responsibilities that must be taken seriously. In addition to following the program rules, students are expected to strive to excel academically, be open-minded, tolerant, flexible, patient, and to have a good sense of humor. These are some of the qualities of a successful youth ambassador, and part of the reason why you have been selected as a Grants student.
