Youth Ambassadors
What does it mean to be a youth ambassador? Many students will answer this question slightly differently. Some possible answers are:
- Knowing about your country so that you can answer questions Americans ask
- Challenging your views and being open to others
- Learning about life in the U.S.
- Sharing your recipes and holiday traditions
- Showing what it means to be a young person from your country
- Being “quick to observe, but slow to judge”
Whatever your definition, being a Grants student is a privilege that comes with responsibilities that must be taken seriously. In addition to following the program rules, students are expected to strive to excel academically, be open-minded, tolerant, flexible, patient, and to have a good sense of humor. These are some of the qualities of a successful youth ambassador, and part of the reason why you have been selected as a Grants student.
