Global Youth Service Day (GYSD) is an annual global event organized by Youth Service America and the Global Youth Action Network, together with a consortium of 32 international organizations and well over 100 National Coordinating Committees that celebrates, recognizes, and mobilizes:

  • The year-round contributions of young people to build their communities and their world through voluntary service
  • The contributions made by the community (public, private, and nonprofit sectors) for empowering young people, especially through mentoring

On Global Youth Service Day, millions of young people in countries around the world highlight and carry out thousands of community improvement projects. This day is a way for local, national, and international organizations to:

  • BUILD the capacity of an international network of organizations that promotes youth participation, service, and learning
  • EDUCATE the public, the media, and policy-makers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders around the world
  • MOBILIZE youth and adults to meet the needs of their communities through volunteering
  • LEARN and share effective practices in youth service, youth voice, and civic engagement in the world today.

International Education Week

line getting involved

Every November, International Education Week (IEW) marks the celebration of the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education work together to promote programs that influence Americans to learn more about other countries and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and participate in exchanges in the United States. All Grants students are required to give at least one presentation about their home countries in their schools and/or communities and then submit a report to CIEE. For more information on International Education Week please visit www.iew.state.gov.

Click here to See Student Guidelines for Presentations During Internaitonal Education Week.

Global Youth Service Day 2010 is April 23-25.
