Convalidation
In order for some students to receive credit for their year in the U.S., they must go through a process of ‘convalidating’ their U.S. grades. It is the responsibility of the student to take care of this process while they are in the U.S. CIEE is not responsible for convalidating grades. There are various steps students must follow in order to do this. The process is slightly different for each country, but all students must attain an official school transcript from their high school and contact their regional Consulate Office. CIEE encourages all students, even from countries that do not require convalidation, to request an official transcript from their U.S. high school.
