"I cannot say enough about my experience at La Piedra. Regardless of their surroundings, these children's smiles and happiness are infectious, and they truly appreciate whatever knowledge you can offer. Spending time with them gave me a new perspective on what is truly important in life. I will forever hold the La Piedra community close to my heart, and I hope to return soon! I strongly encourage anyone interested to pursue the next step, as it will change your life, as it did mine." —Catherine, Dominican Republic
"So many aspects of the CIEE summer program in the Dominican Republic were absolutely incredible. The opportunity to live with a host family provided an unparalleled opportunity to learn about and truly appreciate a different culture. Working and playing with the kids at the summer camp in La Piedra was a lot of fun, and also an extremely rewarding experience. La Piedra is a highly resource poor–community, and the chance to improve the quality of life of its people, even in a small way, is very meaningful. Not to be forgotten were the bonds that I formed with the other participants of the program; we went from mildly awkward acquaintances on day one to an inseparable group of friends at the end of three weeks. If you have the opportunity to participate in this program, I would highly recommend doing so." —Dylan, Dominican Republic
"Going to Japan with CIEE was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It allowed me to travel and explore Tokyo with the guidance I needed, while still giving me the personal freedom to explore and learn on my own. I felt safe, welcomed, and cared for throughout my trip and I got to meet so many amazing people. When I was there, I ate Viper ice cream (yes, it had real viper in it!) and then wrote about that for my college entrance essays. I definitely recommend this program to anyone who wants to go out and explore a new land or culture without the usual worries of traveling (food, room, transportation). Get out there and see the world with CIEE!"—Zeezee, Japan
