Downtown Touring
Yesterday, our students went on a bus tour on-board the Carnavalito Bus or, as locally known, the Gua-Gua, which is an old traditional Cuban open bus. This was a guided tour around downtown Merida and the historic centre. During the trip, students listened to the history of the city, its buildings and important people in Yucatecan history.
Students enjoyed the view of colourful houses and churches built in different european styles. Some of their favourites were the big antique mansions on the main road of Paseo de Montejo, the Monumento a la Patria and the Itzaes Drive with beautiful Flamboyanes trees.
