This is a big bridge that connects two banks that are far away from each other and make them as close as possible. It helps us understand each other much better. And I feel like a builder. The builder of very good type of relationship called Friendship."

Speedway High School, Indianapolis, Indiana

Akram worked with a teacher at his high school to present a workshop on Cultural and Religious Exchanges for Global Youth Service Day to give information about Islam to  counter stereotypes about Islam to students and to help give a face of true  Muslims.  Akram wrote: “Islam is not all about killing people, but  it’s a faith of billions who want peace; that it is not a faith that American Christians should be afraid of. I hoped our lesson helped some students to understand Islam and to fracture those stereotypes that they had before. Students were so patient and interested, answering their questions made me feel that I am making a difference in many ways.”

Being from a different culture and having different values, Tolerance Awareness Day was an incredible experience for me where I played a tiny part in a very influential and beneficial project. Which can lead to tolerance, not only between people, but also between countries and the continents, making the world a more perfect place."
