Activities
Combining activities with structured learning sessions helps to reinforce the English language learning. All camp activities focus on language immersion and allow villagers to practice and utilize their language skills while participating and having fun.
One of the best things about Hometown USA is its location and access to nature. There are a variety of activities for villagers on the Hometown USA campus. Villagers have the opportunity to participate in activities both during structured sessions and in their free time.
Villagers can:
- Explore the camp on a bicycle
- Swim or canoe on the lake
- Participate in a variety of sports like basketball, soccer or archery
- Play an instrument
- Work on arts & crafts projects such as tie-died t-shirts or Mardis Gras masks
- Learn songs and dances from a variety of English speaking cultures
- Cook regional cuisines
Every year the special activities offered vary depending on the skill set of the counseling staff hired. These special activities could include yoga, African dance, rugby or American football to name a few.
