Whether it’s being able to express yourself confidently in a college interview or a college classroom, outstanding English skills are key to success in the world of American higher education. At the heart of the CIEE English Language Academy is a dynamic language learning program designed to help you become a better English-speaking student. Because the curriculum is customized by Brandeis University faculty to meet your particular strengths and needs, the program can accommodate students with a range of English-speaking abilities.

You’ll spend each morning in intensive English classes before heading out into the real world to apply what you’ve learned. From taking on fun team-building projects with your peers, to exploring cultural landmarks like Boston’s famous Faneuil Hall, structured, interactive activities help you strengthen your skills the best way possible: by communicating with native English speakers.

American University Experience

See what it’s really like to live like an American university student.

At Brandeis University—a school consistently ranked among the nation’s top universities by U.S. News and World Report—you’ll familiarize yourself with both the college admissions process and the campus experience. You’ll live in a dormitory at the university, eat in a dining hall, use the athletic facilities, and interact with other students from around the world that are on campus for the summer. Your time at Brandeis will give you more than a new found sense of independence; it will give you a sense of the U.S. college experience and an idea of what you can expect to find at universities across the country.

With the CIEE English Language Academy, you’ll also have the chance to meet with, and ask questions of, current university admissions officers. It’s an incredible opportunity to discover what American universities are looking for in prospective students, from the very people who make the decisions in the admissions process!

Cultural Exploration

One of America’s oldest cities, Boston is rich in American history and culture. It’s also a center of education, home to a number of the most prestigious universities in the world. And with the CIEE English Language Academy, you’ll get a taste of everything it has to offer!

During your time in the U.S., Brandeis staff will organize cultural activities and field trips for you in and around the greater Boston area. All of the activities are included in your program fee.

You might start with a tour of Boston, following the famous Freedom Trail past a number of fascinating historical sites. Then, join the crowds shopping at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market before heading across the Charles River to visit the Harvard University campus. One weekend you could be enjoying the attractions at Six Flags Amusement Park, and the next, cheering on the home team at a minor league baseball game.

Wherever your exploration takes you this summer, you’ll have a great time developing your English while truly experiencing American culture.
