Interviewers
All CAI interviewers are Americans who have graduated from U.S. universities and have experience living in the country where they are interviewing. Most interviews are conducted by full-time CIEE staff.
All interviewers participate in a comprehensive two-part training that teaches and tests for ability to administer 100% of interviews with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
Average Scoring Deviation (ASD)
The ASD represents an additional measure employed by CIEE to ensure the accuracy and consistency of our CAI assessment results. Through training, every interviewer/assessor develops a measure of how generally accurate they are at assessing interviews compared to a control group. This number is called the Average Scoring Deviation (ASD).
All interviewers/assessors must have an ASD falling between -.19 and +.19 to be eligible as a CAI interviewer. For more detailed information about the ASD, please contact us.
