CIEE is committed to evaluating and publishing our results from a number of perspectives. On-site evaluations are conducted by faculty and study abroad administrators from the CIEE Academic Consortium, reports are written by the CIEE Program Directors with input from resident staff overseas, and students evaluate their experience through an on-line evaluation instrument.

CIEE strives to maintain high quality academic programs and services at all CIEE Study Centers worldwide.

Following is a description of the evaluation types. All reports for a particular program can be found on-line in the that program section, under the heading Evaluations. All reports of a particular type can be retrieved using the Quick Find search.

Program Evaluations and Review Types

CIEE Academic Consortium Board (ACB) Program Evaluation

The purpose of Program Evaluation is to provide members of the Academic Consortium with the reasonable assurance that the program, which the Consortium Member institutions are sponsoring, is of high quality, and in particular of high academic quality. Following the principles and process set by the ACB, the evaluation report is made available once it is approved by the ACB. Program Evaluations happen about once every five years.

CIEE Academic Consortium Board (ACB) Program Monitoring

Each year the ACB monitors each of the programs. The ACB monitor discusses the program with the Program Director based on various documents provided by staff.  Any issues raised by the monitor are then reflected in the Annual Study Center Review written each summer by the Program Director.

Annual Study Center Reviews

New in summer 2004, the Annual Study Center Review replaces the end of session reports written by the resident director. The Program Director solicits feedback from staff throughout the organization (including resident staff) as well as from the ACB and other Consortium member institutions in the drafting of these documents.

Student Evaluations

Students provide regular feedback to CIEE both throughout and upon conclusion of the the program. At the end of each term, all students are required to complete an online evaluation of the program, covering topics including the academic program and course offerings, field trips and other co-curricular activities, quality of housing and facilities, on-site staff, and pre-departure services. Evaluation summaries are available for each program, each term.
