CIEE is currently seeking qualified faculty to teach at each of the CIEE Study Centers in Shanghai in the Spring 2008, and Fall 2008, and 2008-2009 Academic Year in China.

Requirements
Each course meets for total of 45 hours each term in a period of 14-16 weeks. All faculty will be expected to take part in some program activities and lead 2-4 local excursions as part of each course.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
CIEE offers a competitive salary, insurance (if necessary), and housing (for visiting overseas faculty teaching on the program for 10 months). Faculty may also be assisted in performing independent research with in China.

This is a seasonal position. It will begin as a part time position for a minimum of 8 hours per week with a flexible schedule initially and then move to a full time capacity during the spring and summer months.
Summary of Position
This position is part of the team that screens employers that employ international students participating in our Work & Travel USA program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Screen employers, review job applications and verify employment details
- Answer questions regarding processes from Work & Travel USA employers and other CIEE departments
- Respond to job application status inquiries from US employers
- Work closely with Client Services when screening employers and verifying job information

Resident Director, CIEE Study Center, Tokyo, Japan
Reports To: Program Director, Asia Pacific
Location: CIEE Study Center in Tokyo, Japan
Summary of Position:
The Resident Director (RD) is responsible for the quality and success of three programs (fall, spring, summer) offered in one Study Center which services 150-250 students a year. The position is responsible for all aspects of in-country operations as well as for long-range planning, ongoing program evaluation, development, and marketing. The RD is responsible for ensuring the highest levels of program quality and customer satisfaction, maintaining, together with other members of CIEE’s senior management, CIEE’s commitment to providing and preserving a safe and supportive environment for students and employees in which individual ideas and uniqueness are recognized, valued, and given the opportunity to grow.
Primary Responsibilities
This position reports to the Program Director, Asia Pacific who is located in the Portland, Maine office. The Resident Director has two direct reports on site and works with one employee located at the CIEE Japan (CIEEJ) office for housing coordination and management.
Academic
- Design and implement the co-curricular program, evaluate all aspects of the academic program, propose needed changes, design and implement appropriate orientation activities programs.
- Participate in the determination of program requirements and the selection criteria for participants.
- Advise participants concerning their academic course selections. Monitor participants’ academic performance. Write a brief evaluation of each participant’s academic performance at the conclusion of the program.
- Facilitate registration into the host institution. Monitor changes in enrollment.
- Ensure high quality levels by monitoring the appropriate degree of difficulty of the academic program, appropriate assessment of student work, and standards of grading. Hold regular meetings with program faculty and representatives of the host institution to review program quality and student achievement.
- Prepare student grade reports and send promptly to Portland at the conclusion of the program.
- Serve as the first point of contact for any student requests for special exceptions,
- Maintain the program library.
Student Services
- Hold regular and well-publicized office hours and arrange for teachers and other staff to do so, as well.
- Communicate promptly to the Portland office and to the sending school any student academic difficulties, health problems, discipline issues, attendance problems, or unauthorized absence from the program site.
- Facilitate students’ communication with their parents and appropriate authorities at their home and/or sending schools.
- Confer with individual students, as necessary, and hold occasional group meetings.
- Plan and implement all aspects of student services in coordination with local support staff and contracted service providers in managing the following aspects of the program:
- Visas and other legal procedures that apply to students
- Meet and greet and general orientation
- Cross-cultural information and training
- Housing
- Homestays and private dormitories via collaboration with the CIEEJ office in Tokyo

- Write an annual safety audit covering relevant health and safety information needed by participants, their parents, and sending schools.
- Provide orientation to participants upon arrival and as needed during the session. Includes: information on safety, health, legal, environmental, political, cultural, and religious conditions in the host country, and appropriate emergency response measures.
- Provide appropriate advice and warning to participants during the program in order to help them minimize risk and enhance their individual safety.
- Secure appropriate medical and professional services and help participants obtain the services they may need.
- In cases of serious health problems, injury, or other significant health and safety circumstances, maintain good communication among all program sponsors and others who need to know.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness processes and a crisis response plan.
- Communicate to participants applicable codes of conduct and the consequences of non-compliance. Take appropriate action when aware that participants are in violation.
Program Evaluation
- Participate in the design of appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
- Manage student evaluation processes after the orientation and at the conclusion of the program, including both evaluation of the program as a whole and of individual courses.
- Facilitate the visits of ACB evaluation teams, providing information, coordinating their schedules, establishing appropriate local contacts, setting up group and/or individual meetings with students.
- Write a Resident Director report at the conclusion of each session.
Program Management
- Communicate regularly with the Portland office concerning all aspects of program operations.

- Establish and maintain local banking arrangements and procedures for transfer of funds to the program.
- Manage program finances and submit monthly expense reports to the Portland office.
- Assist Portland staff in assuring the legal basis for the program and for any staff including the Resident Director.
- Hire, supervise, and pay any necessary staff and/or subcontractors.
- Recruit, supervise, and pay host families.
- Execute and complete planning for substantial program changes for the following year every January
Marketing
- Participate in the writing of program materials (advertising materials, catalogue copy, bulletins, handbooks, arrival information, orientation information, pre-departure reading lists, course syllabi,
- curriculum vitae of teachers, information concerning the country, the locale, and the host institution)
- Represent the program on sending school campuses, at fairs, conferences, and other events according to a schedule put together by the Portland office.
- From time to time, assist in the development and implementation of an International Faculty Development Seminar, other CIEE programs, a session at the CIEE Annual Conference, or at other professional meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Education—Must have post-graduate education in a discipline relevant to the mission of the program. MA, MPPM, MBA, and MPA degrees welcome. A Ph.D. is preferred, but not required.
- Experience—Previous management experience required. Preferable to have prior experience managing large study abroad program in Japan.
- Language/Culture—Must be highly proficient in Japanese and have in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture, history, business practices, and academic environment.
- Academic—Must have an in-depth knowledge of U.S. academic institutions and their culture. Must have the ability to function well in a complex institutional framework, have a high tolerance for ambiguity, flexibility, and the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to changing circumstances, especially with regard to academic/curricular issues and institutional policies/procedures.
- Seasoned leadership skills—Must have the proven ability to lead a team through the complexities and challenges of a broad range of operational, disciplinary, and academic issues.

The CIEE Rabat Resident Director is responsible for the quality and success of the program offered at the CIEE Study Center in Rabat, Morocco. This individual must be willing to live full-time in Rabat 12 months per year in order to oversee the fall, spring, and summer program sessions.

Senior Accountant, Finance Department
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Summary of Position:
The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for managing the treasury functions of organization, the government backed grants of the organization as well as perform special projects relative to internal audit functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Treasury Accounting
- Manage day to day banking relationship relative to cash management, investments and foreign currencies
- Complete monthly Board of Directors report on cash balances
- Complete Quarterly Report Card for senior management team
- Complete foreign currency need projections
- Manage cash balances and investigate investment strategy options
- Investigate foreign currency hedging options for the organization
- Manage and process US dollar and foreign currency wire requests on a weekly basis
- Work with international study centers on managing and reporting cash balance
