Tanzania and Kenya
Level of Activity – What to Expect
Participants will be staying at four hotels in four different locations: one in Kenya and three in Tanzania. The hotels will be a minimum of 3 stars. All rooms have private baths. Some hotels do not have an elevator.
A minibus or van will be used to ferry the group each day of the trip from the hotel to site visits. There will be long minibus/van trips on this seminar, with most of the trips lasting between one and two hours on relatively good roads. The longest minibus/van trip will be about 5 hours. The roads in Kenya and Northern Tanzania are good in some sections and bad in some sections. None of the roads are "American Standard" highways though.
During safari days, transportation will be in safari vans.
There will be two flights during the program: a one-hour flight from Arusha to Zanzibar and a 20-minute flight from Zanzibar to Dar Es Salaam.
Participants will walk an average of 1 hour per day, with 1-2 hours on days with tours or specific site visits. Walking will be on dirt paths, sandy beaches, and city sidewalks. During the cultural tours of villages, there will be some uphill walking.
This is a traveling seminar and participants should be comfortable moving from place to place.
Nairobi and northern Tanzania are high altitude locations. Zanzibar and Dar Es Salaam have humid, coastal climates. There is a risk of sunburn if proper protection is not taken. People with very strict diets (vegan, Kosher, Halal, gluten-free) may struggle finding adequate food options.
