2005 ExxonMobil Faculty Fellowships
For Faculty and Administrators at NAFEO-Member Institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The 2005 ExxonMobil Faculty Fellowships provide funding for faculty and
administrators from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
to participate on CIEE Summer 2005 International Faculty Development Seminars
(IFDS).

with funding generously provided by

The fellowships are designed to broaden participation in international education and strengthen capacities for internationalization at minority-serving institutions. To serve that end, the goal is for participants to utilize their IFDS experience as a way of increasing international awareness on their home campus. Applications are evaluated based on the connection between the Fellowship's mission and the applicant's projected plan of action upon their return. Candidates are required to submit a comprehensive outline of anticipated activities stemming from seminar participation.
Acceptable activities include but are not limited to:
- creating new courses with an international focus and/or enhancing existing courses
- furthering and/or developing research projects with an international focus
- contributing to campus-wide curricular development
- developing international exchange programs for students and/or faculty
- developing study abroad opportunities for students
- encouraging the inflow of international students
- giving presentations and/or writing papers/articles relating to the seminar content or destination
Applicants must be full-time faculty or administrators from an HBCU. (For a listing of these 118 HBCUs (NAFEO-member institutions), please refer to the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education website at www.nafeo.org)
2005 ExxonMobil Faculty Fellowship Fellowships will be awarded to cover
the full seminar fee based on double-room occupancy. Funding amounts range
from $2400-$3000 depending on the seminar.
Application Deadline: February 1, 2005
A complete 2005 ExxonMobil Faculty Fellowship application includes:
- IFDS 2005 Application Form
- Statement of Purpose that outlines how seminar participation will impact internationalization efforts on your campus
- Letter of Support from your institution's President, Academic Dean, or Department Chair supporting your participation
Applicants will be notified about acceptance by
March 21, 2005.
