Seminar Topics and Site Visits
Seminars will be similar in content and theme to the way they are described on this website, although specific session topics and site visits may change. Final day-by-day schedules will be available before departure.
Lectures/Discussions
Each seminar is organized around a theme that is explored through a series of lectures given by local faculty experts and/or specialists from public-and private-sector institutions in the community. Each session is conducted in English (or with translation) and is followed by discussion.
Site Visits/Study Tours
Closely coordinated with lecture topics are opportunities for participating faculty to visit academic, economic, educational, environmental, historic, political, religious, and/or social institutions. Participants also tour local sites pertaining to the seminar theme and attend cultural events or performances.
Seminar Leadership
Each seminar is hosted by a prestigious academic institution abroad. The Faculty Leader, an academic appointed by the overseas host institution, oversees the academic content of the program.
Academic Interchange
The seminars are structured to include opportunities to meet with overseas academic counterparts. This interchange may be in the form of multilateral symposiums, discussions, and/or social events such as receptions or meals.
Length
Seminars range in length from 7 to 14 days. They are designed for those who wish to make the most of their relatively short time overseas, and are heavily scheduled with academic lectures and related site visits.
Group Size
CIEE International Faculty Development Seminars typically enroll a group of between 10 and 20 participants. The average group size is 15 participants.
